BUILD A HAT,
SAVE A LIFE
In partnership with the Build a Hat, Save a Life Program, founded by former Saint John's client Jannesse Hunt, Saint John's is proud to offer the opportunity to purchase one of 50 handmade hats. These iconic works of art have been created with care by the women and children here at Saint Johns.

This hat was generously donated by the Build a Hat, Save a Life Program.
Kelli – “I have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. I’ve become a Dreambuilder, a Sister for Change, and a Tour Sister. I am loving the job readiness program and I’ve even started an evening prayer circle!”
Celina – “Saint John’s is a huge program and can be overwhelming, but I have met every challenge! The challenges keep you going! I want to be whole again.”
Shontavia – “I’m hear to figure things out and complete my High School Diploma.”
Dalys - "I just arrived at Saint John's and I already know that I'm so incredibly blessed to be here."
Carmen – “Seven months ago I was homeless and on the streets. I will been clean and sober for a year this June and am looking forward to learning more in the Plates kitchen so that when I leave I can be a chef. I’m just really grateful for this opportunity.”

Stephanie – “My son and I have been at Saint John’s for seven months now. I was afraid, but I’m learning patience. The women here are like sisters.”

Kasey – “I know that God put me here and that my journey is about to begin. I’m going to have faith to trust in the steps that I’m about to take here at Saint John’s. I just can’t live in the chaos anymore. My children and I deserve more.”
Maegen - “Since coming to Saint John’s in January, I feel free. I am finding myself again.”
Angelique – “I want to be able to support myself and my kids. It’s time for me to be able to do that.”
Melissa – “This is a huge emotional journey. I needed something different this time around and Saint John’s is really that. This program is just so different from all the others I’ve been to – it would be foolish to not make the most of this opportunity. My children and I are ready to be a family unit.”
Silver - "I've been here for just a few short weeks and already my youngest child is back in my life. I came here from rehab after a enduring domestic violence...for too long. There are four ribbons on my hat, one for each of my children. It's time to be happy. It's time to find some peace and serenity."
Shaylah – “Saint John’s is teaching me how to responsible for my four year old daughter, as well as helping me work towards my ultimate goal of becoming a licensed cosmetologist.”

​Angel - "I came to Saint John’s with my two little girls in March of 2018 after fleeing domestic violence. The butterflies on my hat represent freedom and new beginnings."

Susan - "Finding the answers inwardly is really hard work, but my children are encouraging me to keep working on myself. This is a huge opportunity."
Stephanie - “I’m here because I needed housing – I needed a roof over my head so that I could work on myself. It is really amazing to watch and see the women here go through such tremendous transformations, and to be a part of that.”
Dolores – "I'm just beginning my journey. My goal is to leave here being self-sufficient and independent. I have a purpose now and I am driven!"
